Get to know me...

I'm Valerie, owner of Beauty Boss in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I'm a registered nurse and have been in healthcare for 20 years. I'm also a cosmetic tattoo artist. I have loved all things beauty since I was young and have always been a caring person. I chose nursing because it was secure and my heart was caring for others. I was first interested in cosmetic tattoo when I had my own eyebrow issues, from being over plucked and waxed in the 90s. I felt very insecure about my thin brows, so I sought out microblading. After I got my brows done, I felt so confident and beautiful, that got me interested to move towards that in my career. I could be creative, and I enjoyed making other women feel good about themselves. On this journey I stumbled upon 3D areola tattoo for breast cancer survivors, and I was instantly passionate about it. I could still have my nursing:patient interaction and make a difference in someone else's life. When survivors come to me, this is the final step in their journey, and I feel privileged to be able to share that moment with them and make them feel complete.
